Who are the Greek gods and monsters featured in this game?
This printable kids’ activity features gods and monsters from Classical Greek mythology. Who is who?
Gods and Goddesses
Zeus - King of the gods, wielder of the thunderbolt. He brings good order to the universe.
Poseidon - God of the ocean and earthquakes.
Artemis - Goddess of the moon and the hunt. Her favorite animal is a golden deer.
Apollo - The god of prophecy, education, and music. He plays the lyre and is the leader of the Nine Muses.
Ares - The god of bloody war, generally despised by the other gods and the Greeks themselves.
Athena - Zeus’ daughter, born out of his own head. The goddess of crafts and victorious warfare.
Pan - A force of chaos that held a special place at Athens.
Demeter - The goddess of agriculture and grain. Winter comes every year when her daughter Persephone spends six months in the underworld.
Monsters
Cerberus - The three-headed dog guardian of the Underworld. Does he keep people out-or keep people in? Only the greatest heroes get past him and into the Underworld.
Pegasus - A wonderful winged horse born from the blood of Medusa. He was a companion of the hero Bellerophon, not Heracles-no matter what Disney tells you!
Medusa - A snaky haired woman that turned people to stone with her gaze. She was once a beautiful priestess of Athena who was punished for Poseidon’s misdeeds. The gods aren’t fair!

You can read more about Greek mythology in books like Stephen Fry’s Mythos or Edith Hamilton’s legendary Mythology. Looking for an illustrated guide to Greek mythology? You can try the timeless D’Aulaire’s Greek Myth. You can also read the original stories themselves-they’re all freely available in English! The Greek poet Hesiod’s poem the Theogony tells about the birth of the cosmos and the battles between the gods, so it’s an exciting place to start. You can also visit the visually stunning Mythopedia if you’d like to read about something specific or to explore mythologies outside of Greece. You may occasionally see some artistic nudity there, but that’s almost always the case when dealing with the ancient world.
