In Homer’s Odyssey, the hero Odysseus distinguishes himself from other heroes by using his mind to solve his problems. Other heroes like Achilles were famous for their strength, but Odysseus was known for his intellect. When the Cyclops Polyphemus trapped Odysseus in his cave by blocking the door with a large stone, Odysseus tricked the monster into opening the door and rode out beneath a large ram.
