Athena Coloring Pages Are Here!
Good news from The Classical Workshop, as we’re filling out our selection of Greek Mythology coloring pages with two new illustrations of the goddess Athena. They were both illustrated by Ally Frame, the artist behind our Mythology Match game and our high-contrast bedtime book for babies, The Mountains Are Sleeping. The first coloring page is based on the illustration used in Myth Match. Athena appears with her trusty owl (did you know her bird was originally the crow? He had white feathers back then) and in full armor. Athena was even born in full armor. Her father Zeus developed a terrible headache, and it wouldn’t go away until one day Athena leapt from his head, fully grown and dressed as a Greek hoplite. Have a look at this first illustration. You can click it to download it and print it out at home!
Ally has also prepared a very special coloring page to celebrate the goddess of victorious warfare. Behold Athena Parthenos!
This version of Athena is based on a famous gold and ivory statue that originally stood on the Acropolis of Athens thousands of years ago. You can see a replica today in Nashville, Tennessee! In the original, Athena holds a smaller statue that represents the goddess of victory, Nike. Here she holds a star to represent whatever’s most important to you!
